Registering domainsBy far the simplest way to register domains is via the email interface our regular customers do. Typically the technical and billing responsibilities will be assumed by the VAR, the nameservers will be provided by him, leaving the end-customer as registrant and administrative contact. To facilitate such registrations we are happy to provide a partially completed template form. To register a client simply add their contact details and domain name(s) to the form and email it to the usual address. Registration into the database is handled automatically, so you should have a reply within a minute or two. Perhaps the biggest problem with the email route is that some registrations might be refused. The vast majority of such failures occur because the domain already exists in the database. We recommend that you check our database before registering to see if a domain is free, but it is more difficult to see if the contact already exists. We are aware of this problem, and hope to offer a solution in the near future. ALternatively you are welcome to register domains using our XML-RPC API. This provides a real-time response which your systems can interpret immediately. Finally, regardless of the mechanism of registration, it is important to note that our terms and conditions of business require you to pass these same terms onto your customers. |
